MichaelWelcome to Heart to Heart’s reflections for the Third Week of Easter in our series, Season of Joy. This week’s meditations are designed to help lift us from discouragement, restore our joy, and gently remind us of the importance of healthy, holy self-care. We begin with Fr. Jim Kubicki, S.J., who reflects on today’s Gospel story of the disciples on the road to Emmaus. They were discouraged—and Jesus met them right there. Where are you on your journey of faith? You can trust that Jesus, who is Infinite Mercy, will meet you exactly where you are. In his Monday meditation, drawn from Hebrews, chapter 12, Fr. Kubicki invites us to envision the great cloud of witnesses who surround us—encouraging us to persevere as we run the race, with our eyes fixed on Jesus. Anne Rometty will guide us on Tuesday and Wednesday. She begins with Jesus’ first words to the disciples on the night of the Resurrection: “Peace be with you.” And the disciples were filled with joy. Joy is one of the primary graces we are praying for in this Easter season. Anne asks you to reflect on what brings you joy? Ask for the gift of joy— a fruit of the Spirit. In her second meditation, based on 1st Corinthians, Anne reminds us that God has invited us into partnership with Jesus. Imagine that—Jesus chooses us as His partners. Jennifer Falbo-Negron completes our week. On Thursday, she leads us in a “Walking with Jesus” meditation. Drawing from Psalm 147 and Psalm 23, she invites us to ponder: What in your life is in need of resurrection? And in her closing meditation on Friday, Jennifer reflects on the importance of holy self-care—tending to our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. For our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. Thank you for praying with us. If you miss a meditation or two, it’s never too late to begin again. Try to find a regular time in your day for prayer. 1st Meditation by Fr. Jim Kubicki, SJ
